Blue Teacher can be visualized as a paler version of the Golden Teacher, with a strong tendency to bruise deep blue. Often the mushroom will bruise blue without even being touched or damaged, a visually striking characteristic that sets it apart from most other cubensis varieties. The pale brown cap contrasts with a heavy dark spore deposit, making it one of the more visually distinct strains available.

The chemical anatomy of Blue Teacher shows a notably higher alkaloid content than that of the Golden Teacher, making it a more potent option within the Psilocybe cubensis family. Blue bruising on mushrooms results from psilocin oxidizing when damaged, and is widely considered a marker of psilocybin content.
